MAKE YOUR OWN TRAIL MIX

Save time, money and packaging when you make a big batch of trail mix today, measure into individual snack bags, then enjoy it by the portion all week.

Bacon Lover’s Gorp

The bacon is chopped into small pieces, so you'll save money by buying   less-expensive  irregular pieces and ends.

MIX MANY DIFFERENT SQUARE CEREALS

1 pound bacon, cut up

10 cups various square cereals, as many different flavors as possible

1/4 cup coarse sugar such as Sugar in the Raw (optional)

½ stick butter

2 tablespoons bacon fat

2 drops liquid smoke (optional)

4 drops Tabasco

Chop bacon and fry it crisp. Save fat and spread bits on paper toweling to drain away excess fat.

Put cereals in a large bowl or bag. Sprinkle with sugar if using. Melt butter and stir in two tablespoons of the bacon fat plus the bacon bits, liquid smoke and Tabasco.

Toss cereal lightly while drizzling drizzle butter-bacon mix slowly over it.  Package by the cupful and keep in a cool, dry place for up to one week. Makes 10 portions of one cup each.
