Sherry Gorp

Here’s an exotic trial mix or snack that marries ingredients briefly, then hangs them out to dry. Raisins are kissed with sherry before the final mix begins.

1 cup golden raisins
½ cup sherry

Heat sherry until it shimmers and soak raisins until mixture cools. Drain and spread on paper toweling to dry completely. To dry them faster, spread in a 225-degree oven and stir every 20 minutes until they are chewy.

2 cups miniature pretzels
2 cups miniature yogurt-dipped pretzels
2 cups roasted whole, salted cashews
2 cups unsalted oyster crackers
2 cups roasted, unsalted chickpeas
2 cups corn nuts

Combine dried raisins with other ingredients in a large bag. Shake gently to mix. Package by the cup or half cup for the trail or serve in a large bowl. Makes 12 to 13 cups.
