Get Out of the Office, Have Lunch in Your Pocket

Benchwarmer Gorp
    Have lunch on a park bench in the spring sunshine. Save money, eat better, recharge by getting out of the office. Throw this full-meal gorp together at home and package it by the cupful in snack bags. Complete the menu with a juicy peach and a sparkling water. 

4 cups small rice crackers
2 cups oatmeal squares cereal
2 cups square rice cereal
2 cups cheese-filled pretzel bits
2 cups whole, roasted, unsalted cashews
2 cups shelled pistachios, unsalted
2 cups turkey jerky cut into small bite size

    Package by the full cupful for meals, by the half cup for snacks. Makes 16 cups.

Why make your own gorp? You control ingredients and portions. The above recipe for example, can be made gluten free by choosing gluten-free cereals and substituting snipped string cheese for the cheese pretzels. Can't have tree nuts? Use sunflower or soy "nuts" . Go with less sugar, no salt, vegan, non GMO because YOU choose the ingredients while the recipe provides the proportions to make a balanced meal.
